This time I focused on drawing human faces. Again using my favourite techniques, coal and pencil, I created this image of a woman. I wanted it to be without colours, except few elements that I wanted to distinguish. One of them, red lips, are singled out, because I wanted people to notice them. It also makes the impression that she is wearing makeup or has only made her lips. Also red is one of the intensive warm colours and is often marked, even in black and white pictures. Apart from lips I also singled out eyes. Eyes are one of the elements you notice instantly. I wanted the viewer to look the woman into eyes. In contrast to warm coloured lips, eyes I coloured blue. Blue is calmer and cooler than red, so it balances the drawing. I also marked her heart necklace with gold. This one I just wanted to look like jewellery and something that completes her.

This game was pretty memorable for our team, because it was the first time we played in the full line-up. All of our team members showed up. By that play we showed that we can. We showed that our power is in the team and that we can cooperate. Our game with Sparks was our first  one to win in this season and second to win generally. Although we won, it was a little bit nervous in the end of the game. At the beginning we had a big advantage over our opponents, but during third quarter we lost it. Sparks were even leading for some time. Eventually our team managed to spruce up and take control of the game again. Still from this huge advantage we had, we won only by four points. I am satisfied with the way our team works in this season, it is visible that we made huge progress since then.

On that day classes I did a presentation on the topic of comparing a dog shelter “Paluch” to other, not so well led. We brought closer the statistics in this pet shelter and that also revealed to us that there are less cats in shelters and that they are being adopted more quickly than dogs. We introduced our audience to the message which “Paluch” carries with them: “We protect homeless animals. We create a second chance for them. We know that they feel”. In the end we also “went” on a virtual walk through the shelter. In my opinion such presentations are really important, because they raise awareness through students.

As I said in previous posts I volunteer in Children’s Hospital. This time my job was to draw some pictures for kids to colour. Because I love to draw, this is one of my favourite tasks. You need to be creative if you don’t want your drawing to be same as the others. Apart from that it has to be simple, so the kid will like it and will colour it willingly. Then the images are hung in the hall on the special wall. It is a very rewarding job to do, especially when you later see you drawing coloured.

Even though we lost our first game, I see the progress our team made since last season. First of all our playing is better organised and the communication between the people is much better. Our opponent was not the easiest one, but we managed to hold the game on good level. For some time of the match we were even winning, unfortunately in the end we had one point less. The game was definitely one of the most breath-holding, because the difference in points of both teams was always small. I am really satisfied with the performance our team gave here. I have the feeling that this season can really be better for us.

Due to my interest in tattoo art, this time I decided to draw something related. Skull is a popular motive in such kind of art. Also I am lately interested in human skeleton and how it’s built. I like to connect my works with “biological” elements, flowers, bones, trees or birds. I am really interested in biology, which sometimes gives its trace in my art. Also this time I have drawn some flowers around the skull. This also makes this tattoo effect.

I decided to continue the voluntary work I was doing in 3rd grade of middle school. I help at the Children’s Hospital of Warsaw Medical University. Sometimes my job is to take care of the kids, either play with them or just talk with older ones. Sometimes I do other small tasks. This time I was to disinfect and arrange books in order. Also, because there is a drawing wall next to them, I had to sharpen crayons. It seems to be really an irrelevant task, but by doing it people at the foundation who have more important things to do will se the back of it. In that way every person that does a small job helps.

At the beginning of each new season in Girls League there is a training on which we get to know our new members of a team and practice some tactic. Two of our last season players unfortunately resigned, but we gained three new players, so our team consists now of ten people. We practiced showing off for the ball and our defence, which was a little weak in last season. After the first training I am looking forward for the next season, which may be a good opportunity for our team to take better place. Trainings like this are extremely important, because I can see how our team gets on better after it.

This time I used the images of trees connected with the motive of night. Like in the previous work, there is a single person standing among some trees. Apart from that I drew some stars and a moon, because it reminds me of ancient greek goddess, Selene. The mask with a beak,that the figure in the woods is wearing, refers to the one doctors used during bubonic plague. I begun my interest in venetian masks after a carnival I have spent there three years ago. About a year ago I have drawn my first sketch using the motive.

Lately I have started a new sketchbook to collect my own works in one place. To create them I will probably limit used techniques only to pencil or maybe coal. Such book is unfortunately not adapted for using paint, felt-tip pens or other “wet” tools. There are a drawings of mine in the sketchbook already. I like the idea of running such book, because you can easily see your progress on its pages. That is exactly what I want to see as a result in few months, that my own drawing has improved.
