In this work I’ve decided to practice a bit the creation of linear perspective, which we were introduced to on our visual arts faculty. I got inspired by a visit to some cemetery on Wola. During one of my visits there the sun was just setting, barely visible among the trees, which at that time had not got the leaves. Watching this I decided to draw something similar. Still my work is a lot simpler. Apart from pencil and coal I also have used some crayons in this one, and a fine-tip felt pen to fill the contours.

Creativity – Drawing
Lately I’ve become interested in mandalas and therefore been practicing drawing them. I also inspire my sketches by tattoo art. My latest three mandalas include flowery motives. One of them is based on a wind rose and has some leaves added in. The second one is more cosmic as it has a Saturn with some stars in the centre. The third one has just a simple flower in its centre. These three mandalas have all been drawn with a pencil.

This time the workshop I volunteered on were around the subject of provenance of clothes. The topic was “How does it happen that a t-shirt from China makes its way to me?” Kids got to know the processes of making certain clothes. They also acquainted theirselves with the geographical location of countries in which most clothes are made.

We managed to make our way to the finals and now were to play with Storm, who was the runner-up in the previous season. During the first quarter we even managed to take the lead, then it started to get harder. Storm are not an easy opponent. Most of the time we were going head to head. Then in the third quarter we had a few points less. Unfortunately in the fourth quarter we weren’t able to catch up and finally lost with 6 points. Still we have the second place in the league, which, compared to the last one in previous season, is clearly an achievement.
Creativity – Painting
This time I decided to play with the colours of sun. I wanted to experiment with such colours as yellow, red or orange and all their different shades. In my painting I wanted to picture a sunset. Somehow I wanted it to be vibrant and really energetic. That is also why the work might seem a little bit chaotic. I also weaved in some blue, as a colour of the sky. Still there is very little of it, because I wanted the sunny colours to dominate. The texture is also a bit rough, because Sun is not something that is regular and smooth. In this painting I used tempera.

This time I was to supervise the kids during a play “The Shoemaker Dratewka”, which was performed using dolls. It was a beautiful view to see these children smile and forget, for a while, where they are. The kids also had the opportunity to touch the dolls after the spectacle. After the show I also had to tidy up some books and arrange them on a shelf.

This time we clashed with the Lynx, who were the champions in the previous season. Fortunately for us, our team is stronger now, so we overcame our opponent the second time in this season. Still, the difference in points was significantly lower. This rematch we played with more stress and won by only three points. But victory is victory and we are the runner-ups in the league stats.

This time I was assisting on a workshop about commercials. Children were taught about different techniques that advertisements use to encourage people to buy their products or choose their service. My job was to check the presence of the kids and if necessary look after them. I think it is important that these children early understand the mechanisms behind commercials. Therefore they can acknowledge that ads are usually “steering” and “playing” us.

In the fifth round of Girls League we played against Sparks. First time we managed to beat them and now it was the rematch. Previous game was a little bit stressful, because our substantial advantage suddenly turned into slight one. This time we coped with Sparks a little easier. Still the difference between our points was not the highest one, 5 points. But this is all for our team cooperation, which with every match increases.

This time the Ronald McDonald foundation organised a concert of Disney movies songs. My job was to supervise the event and help if needed. Kids sang hits such as Let It Go or Colours of the Wind. It was a wonderful view, to see these children smile and laugh. I think it is important that these kids can have this moment of relief from their everyday struggles.
