This time for my creativity task I decided to draw a picture of a turquoise – browed motmot. I picked particularly this bird, because my friend asked me to illustrate it. Also this animal is unique, because of the shape of its tail and luxuriant plumage. The species comes from Yucatan Peninsula. Personally I also find drawing birds interesting, they are so colourful and diversified. One of the illustrations is made simply with pencil and crayons. For the second one I used just charcoal.

Creativity – Painting
Within the scope of creativity I do a little bit of painting. Even tough I don’t connect my future with arts, I love to paint and draw in my free time. I am also interested in street art and generally modern art. My latest painting presents a man with wings, but not really an angel. He has a black robe and his arms and wings spread. Still it somehow refers to an angel, but it is not meant to be religious. Sometimes I just paint or draw things that just come to my mind, not really finding a second or third dimension of the work. For me art is the way to stress out and express myself, even if unconsciously.
Service – Children University and Animal Rights Faculty
Last Saturday I went for the first time to help at Children’s University during series of workshops about soap bubbles. Kids were about the age of six or eight and were supposed to learn how to blow bubbles and get to know how do they “work”. It was a great experience to see how children are being fascinated and become interested in a new topic. When I was younger I also attended some of the lectures and workshops at Children’s University. I have to admit that some of them really got my attention and aroused my interest for example street art, as this was the topic of one of the workshops. Moreover such voluntary work with kids teaches responsibility and patience, which are generally useful in life. As other form of voluntary work I join Animal Rights Faculty, which, as suggested by its name, fights for dignity of animals. During our meetings we make presentations to rise awareness of the problems and try to figure out creative methods of collecting money for shelters or other foundations and organisations supporting animals. Lately we have been discussing the idea of how to reasonably spent our money for pet shelters. I really love animals, therefore it’s important for me to help those in need and try to improve their situation.
Activity – Basketball
As I have already mentioned in my latest post from activity, I train basketball twice a week. Apart from that once in a week on Saturday I play a match with my team called Mystics. In this post I’ll focus more on that part of my sport activities. My club, Warsaw Basketball, organises small leagues for different age groups. These aren’t some kind of serious champion leagues, but there are awards to win at the end of each season. Lately they’ve created Girls League, as indicated by the name, the players are girls between 14 and 17 years old. I think such an idea is a huge move forward and personally for me it’s of great importance that I have the opportunity to play with other girls similar age. Before there were only coeducational leagues or only ones made for boys, so not as many girls played. For almost a year, while joining American League, I’ve been the only female in the team and unfortunately having to compete with boys isn’t as easy as they’re stronger and usually higher, also they often don’t pass the ball to girls. Now I’m happy being in a league that I fit in. I could be even happier if our start was better, because now Mystics are last in the ranking. Still it doesn’t mean we don’t have chance for the finals. There are only four teams in the whole league and everything may happen. Besides it isn’t only about winning, it’s also about gaining experience and developing yourself. Thats the real reason I play basketball.
Service – Children University
As one of my service activities I do voluntary work for foundation Uniwersytet Dzieci, which organises courses for children and teens to develop their interests in many disciplines. My objective will consist in: basically checking the list, leading youngsters to concrete rooms or lecture halls, offering help during the lectures and preparing spots for them. Next week I will go for my first duty, but last Friday I was on a training course about my obligations and how to deal with so called “difficult” parents. For me this whole meeting was very useful and necessary at the beginning of my activity there. It helped me understand more about what I will be doing in a week.
Creativity – Drawing
This time for my creativity task I decided to draw something. Actually I have never attended any special drawing courses. Or maybe there was one, sometime ago in the primary school, but it only took about four months. Nevertheless I love to draw in my free time. I am also kind of a freestyler in a way that I teach myself some techniques and create my own style. If I just get inspired by something I draw. The pictures below represent men in beanies. I can not really tell why I have chosen such topic. I think that maybe the inspiration comes from the sight of people dressing warmer and warmer as it is getting colder.
Action – Basketball
Within the scope of action I attend basketball trainings twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Last time we did a lot of dribbling exercises. Each training is very useful for me, because I gain new skills and also practice the ones that I already have. By practice I learn how to do things faster and faster. Now it’s my third year as I play basketball and I can see the progress I have made during this time. This helped me understand how important practice is and how it leads to development each time you do something. Apart from practice issues, there is also the pleasure I have from playing basketball. For me trainings are the time when I can completely kick back.
